- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 2 Tablespoons onion powder
- 4 Tablespoons flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups 2% milk (can use lactose free)
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Paprika (optional)
- 1 package 30 oz. frozen shredded hashbrowns
- Spray casserole dish and microwave shredded hashbrowns for 6 minutes. Stir and repeat.
- In skillet, melt butter.
- Add onion powder, flour, salt and pepper. Stir.
- Add milk and stir constantly.
- When mixture thickens a bit, add cheese and stir constantly until cheese is melted.
- Pour mixture over microwaved potatoes.
- Stir.
- Top with paprika (optional).
- Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
